  6. Acorn Offers Rental Option

  10. Acorn Computers is introducing Acorn Options - a rental package for
  11. educational establishments to allow them to acquire state-of-the-art
  12. computer equipment without the need for capital expenditure.

  14. Under the new scheme, which was set up in response to a perceived demand
  15. following the removal of restrictions on rentals by the Chancellor in his
  16. autumn statement, Acorn education dealers will be able to offer such
  17. establishments rental terms over three years of both Acorn equipment and
  18. associated peripheral hardware and software.  The rental will be quoted at a
  19. fixed rate over the three year period and an extended warranty scheme will
  20. also be offered as part of the package.

  22. With Acorn Options, more machines can be added to the rental at any time and
  23. there is even an option to exchange out any of the equipment for newer
  24. models as they become available.

  26. Acorn's Education Marketing Manager Frank Burdett explained that with
  27. continual advances in technology and product development, it can prove very
  28. expensive for educational establishments to keep up to date. "For some
  29. schools it is simply beyond their means." he said.

  31. "Acorn Options eliminates this problem by allowing a school to use its
  32. revenue, rather than capital, budget and improves cashflow by spreading the
  33. acquisition cost of the equipment over a realistic three year replacement
  34. period."

  36. Normally, once a school or college approaches an Acorn Education dealer, it
  37. will take a maximum of 24 hours to action a rental agreement and the dealer
  38. will be able to sort everything out from raising the initial paperwork to
  39. acquiring the equipment for the school to dealing with its installation and
  40. maintenance.
